Lionel Messi rubbish, Luis Suarez awful – Inter Miami ratings in PSG thrashing

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez failed to perform as Paris Saint-Germain ran riot against Inter Miami at the Club World Cup.

Joao Neves netted a simple brace on Sunday, 29 June, being joined by Man City’s linked full-back Achraf Hakimi on the scoresheet, with Tomas Aviles diverting another goal into the back of his net during a 4-0 defeat.

It was a far better second-half performance from the MLS side, though with such a poor first 45 minutes at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Luis Enrique‘s side kept their third clean sheet of the tournament.

Inter Miami defence struggles against Champions League winners

Oscar Ustari – 5

Conceded several goals but made some brilliant saves against the Champions League title holders.

Marcelo Weigandt – 3

Struggled to deal with the pace of the PSG attack, picking up a yellow card in the first 45 minutes.

Maximiliano Falcon – 4

Could not deal with the pressure during the first half. Far more comfortable, with PSG going down a gear, but Inter Miami could not recover from the four-goal deficit.

Noah Allen (Off for Tomas Aviles 19′) – 5

Looked reasonably solid during the opening 20 minutes, even despite PSG’s opening goal, which made his injury extremely disappointing for the American side.

Jordi Alba – 5

Far more comfortable second-half display from the 36-year-old. Struggled to deal with the pace early on.

PSG overrun the midfield in Club World Cup victory

Federico Redondo – 6

A huge figure in the middle of the park. Made some impressive passes and stayed positive throughout the game.

Sergio Busquets – 5

A shadow of his former self, allowing players to skip past him. Will be disappointed by his mistake in the first half, one which led to a goal for PSG.

Telasco Segovia (Off for Cremaschi 75′) – 5

Got stuck into tackles, created a chance, but in the end, he couldn’t create enough to help his teammates out as they crashed out of the Club World Cup.

Messi and Suarez leave football fans disappointed

Lionel Messi – 3

Extremely disappointing. Trusted to push Inter Miami up the pitch, but kept choosing the easy pass and refused to take anyone on. Much brighter in the second half, but still disappointing.

Luis Suarez – 2

Some horrendous first touches, with many of his passes going astray. Threw his bodyweight around to pick up a yellow card in a rather frustrating night for the veteran.

Substitutes

Tomas Aviles (On for Allen 19′) – 3

Yellow carded before touching the ball, and an own goal. Awful from the 21-year-old.

Benjamin Cremaschi (On for Segovia 75′) – 5

Had a decent impact when coming on with fresh legs, but failed to create much in front of goal.
