Lisandro Martinez has taken to social media to send an emotional message to Ruud van Nistelrooy after his recent Man United dismissal.
Van Nistelrooy, 48, took over as the club’s interim manager after Erik ten Hag was finally sacked having led the club to their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
The legendary former United striker managed to steady the ship during his short spell in the dugout, going on a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions, winning three and drawing one.
Despite his impressive temporary tenure, and clear admiration from the players, the new manager Ruben Amorim decided against keeping him on at the club.

The centre-back took to Instagram to send a message to his former coach, thanking him for his hard work while at the club.
