Lisandro Martinez reacts to Leny Yoro fight message at Man United

Man United defender Leny Yoro was forced off with an injury at half-time in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

The French centre-back was replaced after suffering an injury by Ayden Heaven, who left Man United fans stunned, after an impressive 45 minutes against the Gunners.

Bruno Fernandes scored from a free-kick on the stroke of half-time for the home side, however, despite a wonderful strike, the goal was a contentious one, with the Arsenal’s defensive wall appearing to be pushed back too far by Anthony Taylor.

Declan Rice equalised for Arsenal with a fantastic finish in the 74th minute, but despite being pegged back in their own half for much of the match, United were able to hang-on and earn a point against their rivals.

Leny Yoro a doubt for return leg vs Real Sociedad

Following the draw with Arsenal, Yoro posted a series of photos from the game on his Instagram, captioned: “The team showed great fight yesterday! Thank you for your messages of support. I’ll be back soon.”

The French defender’s teammate Martinez showed his support by liking the post.

The concern for United fans will be whether Yoro can overcome his injury in time for the second-leg of their Europa League tie with Real Sociedad on Thursday (13 March).

The Red Devils earnt a 1-1 draw away from home in Spain, and are in desperate need of a good result, after a difficult season has seen them fall to 13th in the Premier League table, whilst also being knocked out of both domestic cups.

Man United look to build new stadium amidst financial turmoil

Football Insider Verdict

Man United will struggle to buy “top players” this summer, as the club teeter on the edge of a potential punishment, for breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

This will have been devastating news for Ruben Amorim, who joined with a clear tactical system he wanted to deploy, despite the 20-time Premier League champions being ill-equipped to use it.

Despite not being able to afford a new striker, the club are now pressing ahead with plans to build a “new” Old Trafford.

The project is expected to cost in the region of £2billion, with Man United fans divided on Jim Ratcliffe’s 100,000-seater project.

The timing of the announcement feels especially cruel, given that over 350 staff members have lost their jobs at the club since the summer.
