Liverpool appear to have given in to Barcelona’s intense pursuit of Philippe Coutinho, as a nine figure sum has been agreed, according to a report.
Paul Joyce, the northern football correspondent for The Times released the news on his official Twitter page on saturday afternoon.

Joyce states that the fee agreed between the clubs stands at a staggering £142million, making Coutinho the third most expensive player in footballing history, behind Neymar and Mbappe.
Liverpool were resolute in their defence of the star player, as they managed to hold on to him through ehavy interest over the Summer.
Joyce explains in another tweet that Coutinho is to travel to Spain today, but is not certain when the official announcement will take place.

The 25-year-old has desired a switch to the Spanish giants for along time, as he handed in a transfer request over the Summer after learning of Barcelona’s interest in him.
The ‘Little magician’ as he’s affectionately known, would team up with ex team mate Luis Suarez, and the magnificent Lionel Messi to form one of the world’s most dangerous strike forces.
It is worth noting that should this deal go through, Coutinho will not be able to take part in any Champions League games, as he has already represented Liverpool in the competition.
Football Inside verdict
It is hard to justify such a large transfer fee. However, Barcelona are securing one of the world’s best forwards who is still developing as a player. Team’s are going to have nightmares about facing that intimidating front three, and Coutinho will certainly fill the void left behind by the worl’ds most expensive player, Neymar. This is a statement of intent by Barcelona, they wanted their man, they got their man. Watch this space.
