Liverpool ace has silently turned his future around at Anfield, Arne Slot will be thrilled

Arne Slot got his Liverpool side back to winning ways against Real Madrid, and one player’s performance went completely unnoticed.

A lot of the pre-game focus was on Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s return to Anfield after his summer departure, but his prodigy, Conor Bradley, stole the show against Real Madrid.

Vinicius Junior resorted to cheating on Tuesday, 4 November, as Alexis Mac Allister netted the only goal in a narrow win for the Reds, making it back-to-back victories for the first time since September.

The result could certainly be seen as a turning point for the Merseysiders, but more importantly, the game could be a major moment for one of the team’s most experienced players.

Andy Robertson nearly left Liverpool, but now he’s fighting back

Atletico Madrid wanted to sign Andy Robertson during the summer, and after a huge drop in performances, a large number of supporters were anxious for the Scot to be replaced.

Especially after signing Milos Kerkez, the 31-year-old’s career appeared finished after nine seasons with the Reds, but that no longer seems to be the case as the full-back goes from strength to strength.

In fact, Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are hopeful of tying Robertson down to a new deal, with the player’s current contract set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Slot could have lost an integral player just a matter of weeks ago, but now it appears to be an incredibly important decision to keep him as the manager faces a dilemma in defence.

Arne Slot is facing a tough time with the left-back position

Had Robertson not stepped up in recent games, the failure that is Kerkez’s start to life on Merseyside might be gaining a little more traction than it is amongst the fanbase right now.

Against Real Madrid, the full-back created a chance, won three of his five ground duels, won all of his aerial battles, made three recoveries, and kept Arda Guler quiet, all while keeping a clean sheet.

Kerkez was only on the pitch for a handful of minutes, but even so, fans were extremely disappointed by his impact when attempting to help his teammates close out the victory at Anfield.

Robertson has quietly rediscovered the form that made him one of the most impressive full-backs in the Premier League, and that could solve a major headache for his manager moving forward.
