Roma goalkeeper Alisson has given the green light to join Liverpool this summer ahead of Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain, according to a report.
Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte claim that the highly rated shot-stopper, 25, has already held talks with the Merseysiders and they are his preference ahead of big spenders Real and PSG.
It is said that conversations with Liverpool and the player are far more advanced than with the other two Champions League clubs.
UOL claim that Alisson is set to become the most expensive goalkeeper in history this summer, surpassing the world-record £34.7million that Manchester City paid for his Brazil teammate Ederson Moraes.
Alisson joined Roma for £7million from Internacional in the summer of 2016, and has gone on to make 48 appearances for the club and established himself as Brazil’s number one.
Loris Karius has emerged as the new No1 at Anfield in recent weeks after taking over from Simon Mignolet, who has lost his place after a string of errors.
Football Insider verdict:
The evidence is growing that Allison would improve Liverpool’s goalkeeper position in exactly the same way as January signing Virgil van Dijk has proved to be the immediate answer for the previous problem centre-back role. The keeper has improved rapidly at Roma and looks every bit as authoritative and commanding in Serie A as Juventus great Gianluigi Buffon. He will cost the earth, but could develop into the best on the planet. Allison would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool.
