Liverpool and Tottenham handed Lloyd Kelly boost after new contract twist – Sources

Lloyd Kelly to kick-start the post-Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield?

Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly has opened the door to a potential move to Liverpool and Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has been able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs since 1 January with his Cherries contract set to expire in June.

It is believed AC Milan, Juventus and several clubs in the German Bundesliga are keen to land Kelly for free in the off-season.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Bournemouth star is in “no rush” to decide on his future and sign a pre-contract agreement abroad.

Tottenham and Liverpool are long-term admirers of the versatile defender and continue to monitor his situation after the close of the January transfer window.

They could swoop to land him for free in the off-season if he doesn’t agree a new Bournemouth deal.

Kelly can play both centre-back and left-back and his versatility could prove valuable to both sides for the 2024-25 campaign.

Bournemouth ‘would love’ Kelly to sign new contract at the Vitality Stadium

Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 February) that the defender has rejected several new contract offers at Bournemouth.

Sources say the Cherries would love to keep Kelly on the south coast but are aware he is now in a strong position.

He has made 14 appearances across all competitions this season with injury limiting his involvement for Andoni Iraola’s side.

The former England Under-21 international has racked up 130 appearances in total for Bournemouth since joining from Bristol City in 2019, scoring three and assisting seven.

Kelly has often worn the captain’s armband for the south coast club in the past few seasons.
