Kieran Maguire tips Liverpool and Tottenham to ‘join forces’ after source’s reveal

Liverpool and Tottenham will set aside their differences at the first opportunity if they spy a mutually beneficial opportunity.

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the current tensions between the two Premier League giants.

Liverpool confirmed last Sunday (30 January) that 25-year-old winger Luis Diaz had signed from Porto.

This site revealed on Wednesday (2 February) that Spurs supremo Daniel Levy is furious as Spurs had already “signed” an agreement with Porto.

It is understood that Liverpool swooped after Levy had effectively whittled the price down on their behalf.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday (2 February) that the episode has seriously damaged Spurs-Liverpool relations.

But Maguire insists that the two will patch things up and resume their collective bargaining stance as soon as they have a common goal.

“If they can see something which is of mutual benefit, they will work together,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“They will continue to try and concentrate power, decision making and money in the hands of the few.

“There is no trust at board level between the different clubs. They form alliances of convenience and nothing more than that.

“If it’s in Spurs’ best interest to join forces with Liverpool on a future issue, they will do so, and that is what I expect.”

Diaz has registered 14 goals and five assists in 18 appearances for a Porto this term.

Liverpool are currently 2nd in the Premier League, while Spurs are 7th.
