Liverpool are threatening Man United after agreeing new deal – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Liverpool are “right on the heels” of rivals Man United after agreeing a kit supplier deal with Adidas.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the bonuses in the agreement could help the Merseysiders match their inter-city rivals’ revenue levels.
Liverpool will wear Adidas kits from the 2025-26 season after agreeing a five-year deal to succeed Nike.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (25 April) that the Anfield side will earn up to £80million per season from the agreement if all bonuses are met and active.
Meanwhile, Man United signed a world record-breaking £900million 10-year deal with Adidas in 2023.
Liverpool ‘right on the heels of Man United’ as £400m deal agreed
Wyness suggested it is now time for United to react to Liverpool’s latest move in the market.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “They’ll be targeting Man United in every area when it comes to revenue, of course.
“They’re a competitor for Liverpool, and you always want to match or beat a rival where possible.
“I think this new Liverpool deal has certainly kept them right on the heels of Man United.
“With the bonuses, they could even reach the levels of United.
“There is also the area of digital rights. That brand is all over the various computer games, and that has a massive value as well.

“Liverpool, I’m sure, will have been creative with the bonus structures in this deal and they’re going to be right on the heels of Man United.
“Now it’s up to United to try and go one step further.”
