Liverpool: Arne Slot betting odds slashed in Premier League ‘Next Manager Sacked’ race

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has seen his odds slashed in the race to be the next Premier League boss to face the sack.

The Reds were dealt a huge blow on Sunday when Richarlison’s 90th-minute goal saw them held 1-1 by Tottenham.

Slot’s side were expected to crush the relegation-threatened Lilywhites at Anfield, with Igor Tudor’s side having lost six straight games.

And it looked as if they were going to when Dominik Szoboszlai scored a first-half free kick, but the strong attacking play largely ended there.

Liverpool’s manager is expected to be the subject of heavy focus in the summer, after what has been an extremely disappointing season.

Arne Slot in Premier League sack race

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Sunday that Liverpool will review Slot’s future at the end of the season amid the intensifying pressure on his position.

The Dutchman was among the most popular men in the city at the start of the season, after he had delivered the Premier League title in his first season in charge.

Slot was handed the incredibly difficult job of replacing the legendary Jurgen Klopp, and he did so naturally, his team soaring to the title with the help of an extremely in-form Mohamed Salah.

After a summer which saw them spend nearly £450million on the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and several others, Liverpool were the major favourites to retain their title.

But a disastrous collapse now sees them at risk of ending the season without even qualifying for the Champions League.

The Reds will likely only need to finish in the top five to earn access to Europe’s elite competition, but they missed a valuable chance to put daylight between themselves and sixth-placed Chelsea when they drew with Tottenham on Sunday.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot claps with betting odds

In light of the result, one major bookmaker has slashed Slot’s odds of being the next Premier League manager sacked to 7/2, while Scott Parker (11/8) and Oliver Glasner (6/4) continue to lead the race.

What Slot said as Liverpool fans make voices heard

As the final whistle sounded at the end of Sunday’s game, Anfield made its feelings clear with loud boos that rang around the ground.

Speaking after the game about them, Slot said: “No, I think it is completely normal. If the team you are supporting drop so many points against teams you don’t expect them to so many times in the last seconds of a game then I think we all feel a lot of frustration.

“They have experienced this far too many times, more times than they are used to and that is completely normal that they show their frustration. The frustration is felt by me, by the players and also by our fans.

“I’m 100% sure that if they show up on Wednesday [against Galatasaray in the Champions League] that they will be supportive again from the start but if the team doesn’t perform to the standards that they are used to, I think it is completely normal that they are frustrated.”
