Liverpool have set their sights on Brentford star Yoane Wissa as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his forward line ahead of next season.
After excelling for Brentford last term, Wissa has attracted interest from Tottenham, where he could be reunited with former Bees boss Thomas Frank.
The 28-year-old notched 19 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League appearances last season, proving that he is ready to join a club who have loftier ambitions than the West Londoners.
Largely thanks to Frank’s departure, Brentford are set for a tough summer transfer window, as Manchester United remain keen on Bryan Mbeumo, while Christian Norgaard has already joined Arsenal.

Frank desperately needs to add quality to his ranks after Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League under former boss Ange Postecoglou, but qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
Wissa’s performances in Brentford colours show that he could be a real asset for Spurs, especially if he is handed the opportunity to work under his old manager.
However, according to the Daily Mail [15 July], the DRC international is a Liverpool transfer target as the defending Premier League champions look to retain their crown.
Wissa’s ability to operate effectively both as a left winger and a striker make him a strong option for the Merseyside club.
Meanwhile, as reported by The Athletic [15 July], Luis Diaz has made it clear that he wants to leave Liverpool, even though the Reds have rejected a bid from Bayern Munich for his services.
If the Reds part company with the Colombia star, it will make Wissa’s signature a necessity, meaning that Arne Slot would be determined to beat Frank in the transfer race for the Brentford man.

Tottenham’s interest in Wissa shows that Frank is keen to bolster his options on the left wing, while star man Son Heung-Min dropped far below his previous standards last season.

The South Korea international has stood out as one of the best attackers in the Premier League since joining the North London outfit from German side Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015.
However, the 33-year-old scored just seven goals in 30 top-flight appearances last season, amid Spurs’ poor domestic performances.
Meanwhile, fellow left winger Mathys Tel scored only three goals in 20 outings for Tottenham last season during his loan spell from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Spurs demonstrated that they believe in the 20-year-old’s potential by acquiring his services permanently, but Frank could do with a more clinical option.
However, if Liverpool sign Wissa amid Diaz’s potential exit, it would leave Tottenham with less competition to battle Son for a starting spot.
