Liverpool backed to agree ‘amazing’ Mohamed Salah deal

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is in the balance heading into the January transfer window.

Salah admitted he had no relationship with Arne Slot after Liverpool’s draw against Leeds United on 6 December.

Following his controversial comments, Salah didn’t travel with the Liverpool squad for their Champions League win over Inter Milan on 9 December.

However, the 33-year-old registered an assist after coming off the bench in Liverpool’s victory over Brighton on 13 December, with the Reds supporters greeting him with an applause.

It currently remains unclear whether Salah will remain at Anfield beyond the January window following the speculation around his future.

Liverpool could receive £50m+ Mohamed Salah offer

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it would be an “amazing” achievement for Liverpool if they could receive between £50-75million for Salah.

The winger’s immediate future is slightly complicated by his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, which started on Sunday (21 December) and ends on 18 January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “Well, obviously he’s gone for a while. I think it depends on Saudi doesn’t it, and whether he wants to go. I mean, if the answer is yes, then you would think they’ll do a deal.

“I think Saudi will be able to pay what Liverpool want. I don’t think Liverpool will be unreasonable about it.

“I think what we consider to be reasonable, if Liverpool could clear £50-75m of a transfer fee for him, it would be an amazing achievement for them. I suspect they’d be happy with that. It would draw the thing to a close.”

Salah only signed a new two-year contract at Liverpool in April, extending his deal at Anfield until June 2027.

Salah exit update emerges after crushing Alexander Isak blow

In a new update, Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Salah is expected to stay at Liverpool until the end of this season despite his recent bust-up on Merseyside.

The decision was made prior to Alexander Isak’s injury against Tottenham, with the Sweden international potentially facing several months on the sidelines.

It is believed Slot’s side are more open to Salah leaving for Saudi Arabia next summer as they look to keep hold of him for the time being.

Salah has registered five goals and four assists in 20 appearances this season.
