Move underway: Liverpool ready to blow Chelsea out of water to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain

By Harry Sykes

Liverpool are ready to blow Chelsea out of the water to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal by next Thursday, according to a report.

The Mail claim the Merseyside giants have made a “serious” move for the England international ahead of transfer deadline day as the battle for his signature hots up.

It has been widely reported that Chelsea are leading the race to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain after he repeatedly snubbed Arsenal’s attempts to tie him to a new contract.

The 24-year-old is set to reject a £180,000-per-week deal at Arsenal as he aims to take advantage of his contract situation, which would allow him to leave on a free next summer or quit for a relatively cut-price fee within the next five days.

The Mail report that Oxlade-Chamberlain’s reluctance to commit to Arsenal is based on a desire to maximise his career rather than earning potential as he looks to become a key man for club and country.
