Liverpool boss Arne Slot has ‘made a big mistake’ – ‘why would you put that out’
Arne Slot is going through his toughest spell as Liverpool manager, and he may have said something publicly which is not helping himself.
Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat at Brentford made it four successive Premier League defeats, to leave the Reds seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Arsenal have a “huge advantage” over Liverpool and Man City in the title race, with the latter also dropping points against Aston Villa last time out.
Slot is facing increasing pressure at Liverpool, and the Reds face Aston Villa next at Anfield after a Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace.

Nigel Reo-Coker stunned by Arne Slot comments
Speaking to BBC Sport, [27 October] Nigel Reo-Coker believes Slot’s comments after Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat against Man United only helped Keith Andrews prepare his Brentford side.
Following that Man United defeat Slot said: “It is always difficult to play against a team that defends in a low block and mainly plays the long ball“.
Following defeat at Brentford, Reo-Coker thinks Slot will regret those comments.
“Why would you put that out as a manager,” Reo-Coker said.
“I think he made a big mistake publicly as a manager to say something like that because you are letting every other club that you are going to come up against know your weaknesses, know what you don’t like, and they will now play that way.“
Brentford expose Liverpool weaknesses
Brentford did expose Liverpool on the counter-attack, with Kevin Schade epitomising it perfectly with the second goal of the match.
The Bees exposed the weaknesses in Slot’s team and gave a blueprint going forward for others to follow.
| Possession | 34% |
| Expected Goals | 2.76 |
| Shots | 17 |
| Shots on Target | 8 |
| Big Chances | 7 |
Chasing a goal in the second half, Liverpool did not create a big chance and were fortunate to grab a late goal when Kristoffer Ajer allowed Dominik Szoboszlai to step in to tee up Mo Salah.
There are still plenty of problems for Slot to solve ahead of another huge week on Merseyside for the Dutchman.
