Finance guru: Jurgen Klopp talking rubbish amid Liverpool latest – ‘this doesn’t sit right with me’
Jurgen Klopp is talking rubbish – Liverpool are every bit as financially powerful as Man City.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the German manager’s recent comments on City’s wealth.
As quoted by The Guardian earlier this month (14 October), Klopp claimed Man City “can do what they want” and that Liverpool “cannot act like them.”

It was later reported that City considered his comments to be borderline xenophobic, an accusation which has been rejected by the FA who will not investigate the issue any further.
But Plumley claims that Klopp’s assessment of the disparities between the Merseysiders and their rivals of the last few seasons is inaccurate.
“I don’t think he’s right,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“His comments are probably aimed at the overall wealth of the sovereign wealth fund that owns Man City and probably the PIF at Newcastle as well.
“However, you can’t spend it all because you’ve got Financial Fair Play constraints within the league.
“Actually, if you look at Liverpool, they have spent a lot of money in the transfer market recently. It’s not like they have not spent money and been phenomenally successful.

“They are competing with Man City in terms of revenue generation, so it doesn’t sit right with me that he is saying Liverpool can’t compete with City financially.
“In a world of no regulation, it’s a different argument. But in real terms, I don’t think he’s right.“
In other news, door opens for Liverpool to sign Youssoufa Moukoko as deal agreed next month.
