Liverpool ‘confident’ over Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘agreement’ – sources

Liverpool remain “optimistic” that star man Trent Alexander-Arnold will extend his stay at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that, despite their “confidence”, Liverpool are monitoring Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez, 21, should Alexander-Arnold, 25, leave the club.

Alexander-Arnold is one of three hugely important Liverpool players who are in the last year of their contracts, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Football Insider revealed (September 29) that the club have made it a ‘priority’ to finalise a new deal for the England international after links to Real Madrid.

Talks have been held between the club and the player, but no breakthrough has been reached in the negotiations so far.

Liverpool still working on Trent Alexander-Arnold deal

Extending the England international’s contract may be the priority, but Liverpool are keeping an eye on Sanchez should the worst happen.

Sanchez is a very highly regarded young right-back in Spain and has previously been linked with numerous Premier League clubs.

Brighton were interested in the summer transfer window, there’s also been reported interest from Arsenal and West Ham as well.

The youngster played a pivotal role in Spain’s Olympic success, playing 210 minutes across four games as they secured the gold medal.

An attacking right-back in a similar mold to Alexander-Arnold, Sanchez has been a rare shining light in what has been a frustrating start to the season for Sevilla, scoring once in just 310 La Liga minutes.

In other news, Liverpool fans ‘completely disagree’ with Sky pundit’s Alexander-Arnold claim.
