Liverpool could accept Wataru Endo offer ahead of January – sources
Liverpool could accept an offer for midfield outcast Wataru Endo heading into January, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Reds could allow the 31-year-old to leave if they make a signing of their own in the mid-season window.
Arne Slot is not counting on the Japan international in the same way as his predecessor Jurgen Klopp – and with Liverpool top of the table, there is no need for a dramatic shift in that stance.
Endo has made just two starts under Slot, both of which have come in the League Cup.
He has made six appearances in the Premier League and Champions League but they have amounted to just 20 minutes of action from the substitutes’ bench.
The 31-year-old joined in 2023 from Stuttgart but has quickly fallen out of favour at Anfield following the exit of Klopp in the off-season.
Endo, who has been gazumped in the pecking order by ever-present star Ryan Gravenberch under Slot, is under contract on Merseyside until June 2027.

Liverpool wanted to improve their midfield options in the most recent summer window but saw a move for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi fail.
Football Insider revealed last week (7 November) that the Reds will once again scour the market for a new central midfielder in the January transfer window.

Money will be available in the new year after their quiet summer and strong start to the 2024-25 campaign.
Liverpool sit top of both the Premier League and league phase of the Champions League in the early stages of this season.
