‘Liverpool could force Alexander-Arnold U-turn with last-minute offer’ – insider
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested Liverpool could force Trent Alexander-Arnold to U-turn on a Real Madrid move if they launch a “last-minute offer”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Reds have been “quiet and considered” in their handling of the 26-year-old’s future.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract in June and can now agree a pre-contract with Real Madrid, who are long-term admirers of his talents.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (1 January) that Real are willing to pay £20million to fast-track his arrival this month.
However, the Merseyside giants are privately adamant the right-back will not be sold this month.
Talks over an extension at Anfield have yet to result in an agreement and Real Madrid are ready to swoop.
Liverpool have hope with Trent’s Real Madrid move ‘not done’, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t think they’ve mismanaged it.
“They’ve been quite quiet and considered in the way they’ve handled this.
“The situation has been difficult for Liverpool, with Salah and Van Dijk also out of contract.
“But I don’t think Trent’s future is as clear cut as is being reported right now.
“We’ll know more soon, but I don’t think any deal has been fully done – even if it’s leaning that way.
“Liverpool are playing their cards well, so there could be a last-minute offer which derails the move.

“They’re certainly keeping everyone waiting.
“The time is ticking away and Trent can actually speak to Real Madrid now – it’s going to be flushed out in the coming days.”
