Liverpool could ‘make immediate move for Bayern star’ after Mohamed Salah latest

Liverpool are lining up a move to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane amid continued uncertainty about the future of Mohamed Salah.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game as he exclusively told Football Insider that a cut-price deal could be agreed for the 29-year-old this month.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Bayern would be open to offers of between £20-25million for Sane to leave the club.

Sane’s contract with the Bundesliga club is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, opening up the possibility for a return to the Premier League for free come the summer.

However, Brown has insisted that Liverpool could move to secure his signature early given the speculation about Salah’s future – as his contract is also set to expire in June.

It has been said that the German’s arrival would provide the Reds with a replacement who could either step up to the starting XI in Salah’s absence or provide a rotational option if he stays.

Brown previously told Football Insider that Arsenal were one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in potentially bringing Sane back to English football.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the winger would be a “major asset” to a number of clubs if they could land a deal.

I was surprised when he left Manchester City,” he told Football Insider.

“I thought he was a major asset to them, and I still think he would be a major asset to a number of Premier League teams now.

“But when you talk about Liverpool, that brings Salah into the question.

“He’s a left-footed right-winger with plenty of pace who can be a key creative and attacking player.

“They could be making a move for him this month rather than waiting until the summer, then they can wait and see what Salah is going to do.

“If he decides to go, they’ve already got a replacement, and if he decides he’s going to stay, then you’ve got a very strong rotational option.

“I think that’s definitely something they’re going to look in to, and it’s an opportunity to sign a brilliant player on a bit of a cheaper deal.
