Kieran Maguire: Liverpool in 'incredible' position to seal £80m-a-year deal thanks to Jurgen Klopp
Jurgen Klopp has played a “huge” role in building the “incredibly sexy” Liverpool brand and thereby strengthening their commercial power.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Merseysiders’ front-of-shirt sponsor prospects.
This site revealed last month (22 April) that Liverpool believe they can charge more than £50million per season and are in talks with several firms.
And the Daily Mail reported last Sunday (1 May) that the figure could even stretch to £80m in a partnership that would obliterate the world record.
That would represent a double-your-money deal, with Liverpool currently raking in £40m per season from finance firm Standard Chartered.
The Reds are still in the hunt for a quadruple this season despite their damaging draw with Tottenham on Saturday (7 May).

And Maguire insists that the manager’s significance to the Liverpool brand cannot be overstated.
“Man United have the biggest deal domestically but this would go well beyond that,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“This is a reflection of the incredibly sexy nature of Liverpool’s brand at the moment.
“A huge amount of credit has to go for Jurgen Klopp because he ticks all the boxes from a commercial perspective. He’s personable, funny and engaging.
“Liverpool are in a very strong position to negotiate because they have re-established themselves as a powerhouse after a fallow period.”
Klopp recently signed a new deal with Liverpool that will keep him at Anfield until 2026.
Next up for his side is a trip to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa next Tuesday (10 May).
