Liverpool to enter tug-of-war with Premier League rivals for £12.5m rated forward - report

By Harvey Byrne

Liverpool and Arsenal are preparing to enter a tug-of-war for Torino forward Andrea Belotti, according to a report.

The Sun have claimed that Jurgen Klopp is interested in the 22-year-old, with his pace and mobility key attributes to what the German manager desires upfront.

However, the Gunners are also viewing Belotti, with Arsene Wenger looking for an alternative to Olivier Giroud.

It is claimed that Arsenal have already shown an interest in the Italy international in the summer.

They signed forward Lucas Perez in the window for £17million, but it is stated that due to ongoing fitness problems with Danny Welbeck, they are looking for another option upfront.

It is claimed that Belotti could be purchased for a fee around £12.5million.

The striker still has four years remaining on his current contract, but he could be eager to move to a bigger club, with England a possible destination.

He has started the new season in impressive form, scoring four goals in his opening three appearances for the club.

Liverpool have also started the new campaign in good scoring form with 14 goals from their first five matches.

However, they could be looking for another option with the injury plagued Daniel Sturridge currently leading the line.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds will return to Borussia Dortmund with a bid for youngster Christian Pulisic next summer.
