Liverpool expected to complete ‘frightening’ signing – ‘it will go through’

Liverpool have already made some major moves in the summer transfer window and have now been tipped to add another “frightening” signing to their ranks over the coming weeks.

Arne Slot’s side have alreaady completed a double raid of Bayer Leverkusen, bringing in Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from the German side.

The incomings are set to continue – with Liverpool interested in Marc Guehi, who has just one year left on his Crystal Palace contract.

Guehi started 34 Premier League games for Oliver Glasner’s side last season, as well as helping them win the FA Cup, but with his deal running down the Eagles may be forced to sell.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Guehi would be a “fantastic” addition to the reigning Premier League champions.

‘Guehi keen to join Liverpool’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Guehi is “keen” to make the move to Anfield and expects the deal to go through.

Guehi has been linked with both Tottenham and Newcastle over the past year after emerging as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

Wyness claimed Palace need to “cash in” on their captain, and the move could be a good deal for all parties.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It would be a no-brainer for them (Liverpool) if they can get hold of him, and all the noises coming out of the Marc Guehi camp are that he’s keen to go.

“I think it’s a fantastic deal. I think Palace also recognise that I think he’s got just another year left on his contract. So they’d like to cash in as well. All parties could be very happy.

“If you remember the days when Virgil van Dijk came from Southampton, he was a big-money signing at the time, but he’s proven to be a superb buy. He’s done really well. I think he and Guehi, if they can keep fit, would be fantastic.

“I’m frightened to say it, but yes, it’s going to be a good signing for Liverpool and I think it will go through.”

‘Liverpool to accept Konate offers’

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly planning to accept offers for Ibrahima Konate this summer rather than letting him leave for free next year after contract talks stalled.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Arne Slot is willing to replace the 26-year-old in the transfer market.

Brown claimed that while Liverpool would ideally like the France international to commit his future to the club, they would be prepared to let him go if no agreement is reached.
