‘Liverpool expected to sign rising stars this summer’ – boardroom source
Liverpool are on course for big success under Arne Slot this term – with the Reds fighting for honours in the Premier League, League Cup and Champions League.
The Dutchman has had to work with the squad built by his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, and the former transfer team at Anfield.
As per Transfermarkt, Liverpool have had the sixth-oldest squad in the Premier League (26.6 years old on average) so far in the 2024-25 campaign.
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are 33 and 32 respectively but are still the top performers for Slot’s side.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their boards – insisted the Reds will be in the market for several wonderkids this summer.

Liverpool age profile ‘needs some work’ this summer
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed the age profile at Anfield “needs some work”.
Liverpool have made just one immediate signing across the last two transfer windows – bringing Federico Chiesa, 27, to the club from Juventus.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The age profile at Liverpool needs some work, but they will have the money to make those changes this summer.
“With Salah and Van Dijk getting older and potentially going in the near future, there will have to be some younger prospects coming into replace them and put them in a better place going forward.
“The squad profile overall could do with some refreshing at the end of this season and I expect them to do that.”

Darwin Nunez sale could quit Liverpool for Saudi move
Wyness has previously told Football Insider (12 February) that Liverpool star Darwin Nunez will head to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
The striker had been linked with a move away from Anfield in January, but no deal materialised despite interest from clubs in the Middle East.
Sources have told Football Insider (11 February) that Liverpool would prefer to sell Nunez over Diogo Jota – who has been linked with Arsenal.
