Liverpool fans agree with Jamie Carragher as he names star youngster – ‘We knew it was coming’
Liverpool fans have backed Jamie Carragher’s praise of youngster Jayden Danns after his “incredible” performance against Southampton on Wednesday (28 February).
The Reds reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win at Anfield against the Championship promotion chasers, with Danns bagging a second-half brace after Lewis Koumas’ 44th-minute opener.
An injury crisis at the Merseyside giants has forced Jurgen Klopp to field many of his bright young talents, including Danns, Koumas, Bobby Clark and Kaide Gordon, at a crucial point in the season.
However, sensational displays in their League Cup final win and the FA Cup have quickly thrown the young prospects into the spotlight.

Danns’ first goal was a well-weighted chip over Saints goalkeeper Joe Lumley in the 73rd minute, while his second was an instinctual finish after Connor Bradley’s strike was parried directly into his path.
Liverpool hero Carragher took to X following the victory to single out Danns’ performance and he was blown away by the 18-year-old forward’s brace and his candour in his post-match interview.
Danns only made his senior debut for the Reds last week (21 February) as a late substitute against Luton Town in the Premier League and has now featured in their last three consecutive games in all competitions.
Supporters have reacted to Carragher’s verdict on social media, and many feel similarly that Danns looks set for a bright future at Anfield.
