Liverpool fans all say the same thing about Curtis Jones after what he did vs Fulham
Liverpool fans were unanimous in their verdicts of Curtis Jones after his performance at right-back against Fulham on Sunday.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury – and impending Liverpool exit to Real Madrid – has put the right-back role under the microscope at Anfield, with both Jarell Quansah and Jones deputising in recent matches.
Jones started in his new role for the first time against Everton in midweek and went without incident, but against a Fulham side with their tails up, Slot’s entire backline were run ragged in a rapid first half spell.
Alexis Mac Allister’s stunning opener was quickly rendered moot as the hosts netted three goals within 14 minutes at Craven Cottage; Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz ripping up the script.
Conor Bradley, touted as Alexander-Arnold’s long-term successor, came off the bench to set up Luis Diaz for 3-2 following a controversial second-half incident, but a late Liverpool comeback wasn’t to be.

Curtis Jones costs Liverpool with key error v Fulham
Having avoided conceding an early penalty after Caoimhin Kelleher wiped out Andreas Pereira in the box, Liverpool looked to be onto a winner as Mac Allister found the far corner from range to put them 1-0 up.
Fulham | Statistic | Liverpool |
3 | Goals | 2 |
0.75 | xG | 1.11 |
6 / 12 | Shots on Target | 6 / 14 |
38% | Possession | 62% |
4 | Corners | 4 |
However, Pereira’s attempted far-post cross nine minutes later wasn’t dealt with at all well by Jones, who could only volley the ball straight into Sessegnon’s path, allowing the winger to rifle home the equaliser.
From there, Fulham were in the ascendancy and soon hit the front through Iwobi and Muniz’s two strikes, with Jones’ blunder arguably being the watershed moment which swung the match in the hosts’ favour.

Liverpool fans want change after ‘lost’ Curtis Jones performance
Jones isn’t seen as a long-term option at right-back for Liverpool, with former Man United scout Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Slot has identified Jeremie Frimpong as Alexander-Arnold’s successor.
The Anfield faithful want to see Jones taken out of the firing line in the short-term though, with the 24-year-old described as a “lost kid at a fair” based on his display in West London, as well as a “disaster”.
Much of the Liverpool fans’ ire came Slot’s way for using of Jones out of position, and many will hope the Dutchman sees the error of his ways and returns the Anfield academy product to his usual midfield slot.

Curtis Jones at rb is a disaster waiting to happen. Only players that played well are Bradley and Diaz.
