‘Liverpool fans are absolutely shameful’ as £150m Alexander-Arnold claim emerges
Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold was met with a chorus of boos as he stepped on the pitch for the first time since announcing he will exit the club this summer.
He was jeered by the Anfield crowd after replacing Conor Bradley in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday (11 May).
Football Insider revealed on Monday (12 May) that Liverpool are fully expected to agree a deal with Real Madrid over an early exit for Alexander-Arnold – with the Spanish giants keen for him to play at the Club World Cup.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the fans’ treatment of the right-back was “absolutely shameful”.
‘Liverpool fans need to take a look at themselves’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Alexander-Arnold has contributed as much as £150million in value to Liverpool – even though he is leaving on a free transfer.
The right-back has won two Premier Leagues, the Champions League, one FA Cup and two League Cups with his boyhood club.
Wyness claimed Liverpool fans must be “careful of what they wish for” as they “hound players away from the club”.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I sat and watched the Liverpool fans booing Trent at the weekend, I thought it was absolutely shameful.
“I’ve said a lot of positive things about Liverpool and the way they’ve run themselves recently, but I thought that display from the fanbase was shameful.
“All the media have gone on about it.
“If you think about it, Trent has given the club probably about £100-150million through his contribution on the pitch.
“I think Liverpool fans need to take a look at themselves, rather than hound players away from the club. They’ve got to be careful of what they wish for.”

Liverpool’s three-man priority signing plan revealed
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (12 May) that Liverpool are prioritising the additions of a new striker, centre-back and left-back in the upcoming transfer window.
Transfer business will also be dictated by player sales, with the likes of Darwin Nunez expected to leave the club and open space for deals.
The addition of a new left-back has risen up the Reds’ list of priorities amid doubts about the performances and longevity of Andy Robertson.
