'Scandalous', 'Pay for his one-way ticket' - Liverpool fans react to Klopp first-teamer comments

By Richard Parks

Liverpool fans took to Twitter to express their anger after Jurgen Klopp joked that Emre Can has demanded a £250,000-a-week deal to remain at Liverpool.

The Germany international, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and has admitted that he could quit Anfield for another top-level club.

There have been widespread reports that Can is seeking an extremely lucrative agreement to extend his spell with Liverpool, with one report stating last weekend that he is holding out for £200,000-a-week.

Asked for an update on the midfielder’s situation, manager Klopp joked at his media briefing early on Friday afternoon that the German is actually wanting an even bigger pay day of £250,000-a-week as talks continue with the player.

There were laughs from assembled journalists at Melwood, but supporters on social media did not appear to see the funny side.
