Liverpool fans ‘completely disagree’ with Sky pundit’s Alexander-Arnold claim

Liverpool fans have disagreed with Robert Earnshaw’s claim that Trent Alexander-Arnold should move further up the pitch into midfield.

The former Wales international appeared on Sky Sports News on 29th September and compared the Liverpool full-back to Gareth Bale, who progressed from being a defender to eventually being a winger and then a striker.

The Reds have only conceded two goals in their opening six Premier League games, and Alexander-Arnold has featured in every game.

The 25-year-old has previously been used in midfield for Liverpool and England but has spent the bulk of his career playing at right back.

Arne Slot has opted to keep him in that position so far, and he has already picked up one assist this season.

Defensively Alexander-Arnold has started the campaign well with a 60% tackle success rate, while he has also made four interceptions and three clearances.

Liverpool fans question why Trent Alexander-Arnold would change position

Despite Earnshaw being the latest pundit to claim Alexander-Arnold should progress further up the pitch, the Reds fans claim he shouldn’t change considering the impact he can make at right back.

Playing Trent further up the pitch may mean he scores a few goals, but it takes away his bets attribute, which is his long range passing to send players like Diaz and Salah through on goal. His short passing isn't as good.

Completely disagree. Numbers dropped like a stone last year when Klopp tried him inside. Why put a player with his passing ability into the traffic when he has all the time and space he wants at an advanced right back position. Would have been like playing Beckham in the middle.

Awful comparison, bale progressed because his attributes were pace, power and dribbling. Trents greatest asset is his passing range = the more of the pitch that is in front of him to pass into the better! From right back he can switch play or ping a pass to turn the opposition….
