Liverpool fans explode over ‘worst footballer’ vs Crystal Palace after worrying Arne Slot call

Liverpool’s worrying run of form continued during their Carabao Cup clash against Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot made his intentions clear from minute one after making 10 changes to the Liverpool side that lost 3-2 against Brentford.

The Dutchman named three teenagers in his starting lineup, including Rio Ngumoha, Kieran Morrison and Trey Nyoni.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace saw this fixture as an opportunity to progress into the sixth round by naming a strong team.

Ismaila Sarr was one of the many to feature at Anfield, and he scored a first-half brace as Crystal Palace fans hilariously mocked Slot.

Liverpool fans slam Arne Slot’s Milos Kerkez decision

Liverpool suffered their fifth loss in six matches on Wednesday night, and supporters weren’t happy with a tactical call Slot made.

Milos Kerkez, who joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in the summer, continued in his left-back role after scoring against the Bees.

Kerkez has largely struggled since moving to Anfield, and the Hungarian didn’t enjoy his greatest performance in the Carabao Cup tie.

He won just one ground duel and completed one dribble across 90 minutes, with supporters slamming him for a poor display.

“Kerkez is one of the worst footballers I’ve ever seen haha,” one fan wrote, while another said: “Kerkez has been so poor at defending set plays all the teams now target him.”

“Kerkez is the worst player we have signed in 20 years,” someone else commented.

Some Liverpool fans also blamed Kerkez’s struggles on Slot’s decision not to use him as an overlapping left-back and invert him instead.

“How are you playing a back 3 and still have Kerkez inverting. He might have actually lost the plot,” one supporter pointed out.

“Slot can’t unlock Kerkez, it’s sad to see but it’s the truth,” another replied.

“Slot’s obsession with inverting Kerkez and involving him in build-up. Kerkez is clearly not built for this,” an eighth said.

Kerkez’s stats vs Crystal Palace

Slot chose to match Oliver Glasner with his system, deploying a five-man defence with Kerkez used as a wing-back.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work for Liverpool, as the visitors’ superior quality outclassed the hosts, and Slot was punished for his weak team selection.

Kerkez struggled to have an impact on the night, failing to add much attacking impetus after being asked to invert.

1/3 ground duels won
4 recoveries
40/53 (75%) pass completion

Liverpool fans are still waiting for Slot to get the best out of the Hungarian, and as it stands, he’s one of many who are suffering in the manager’s system.
