Liverpool fans: Gary Neville faces Sky axe after what he said about Cole Palmer

Liverpool fans have called for Gary Neville to be axed from commentating on their games for Sky Sports after what he said against Chelsea.

Arne Slot’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge, after an early Enzo Fernandez strike had them leading at the break.

The second half saw an own-goal from Jarell Quansah and header from Virgil van Dijk, before a late Cole Palmer penalty sealed the win for the hosts.

It was Palmer who grabbed the attention of those watching at home, partly due to his display, but largely because of Neville’s comments.

The Man United legend waxed lyrical about the England international’s display, speaking seemingly non-stop about how good he had been in the game.

This comes after Liverpool fans called for Neville to be sacked following the reverse fixture against Chelsea after he accused Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez of cheating.

Liverpool fans call for Cole Palmer to sign from Chelsea

After the game at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool fans called for Palmer to sign amid suggestions that he could leave Chelsea this summer.

The quality of his display during the Blues’ 3-1 win was the game’s main talking point, leading to fans dubbing him “unreal” and “world-class”.

This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 April that Palmer could leave Chelsea this summer amid concerns about his role under Enzo Maresca.

Gary Neville slammed after Cole Palmer praise

This is not the first time Liverpool fans have torn into Neville as a result of his commentary, having labelled him “bitter” after what he said against Arsenal in October.

The former Man United man has had his fair share of run-ins with the Anfield supporters both as a player and a pundit given his connections in the game.

Now, fans have once again hit out at his commentary as they took to social media to label him “embarrassing” and “awful”.
