Liverpool fans could barely contain their delight after the club announced the blockbuster signing of Florian Wirtz.
The Reds confirmed the signing of the German international at 7pm on Friday, June 20 with a post on their social media accounts to confirm the news.
Arne Slot‘s side had been locked in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal in recent weeks but finally struck an agreement worth £116million.
Manchester City were also in the race to sign Wirtz this summer, but they pulled out of any potential deal after he prioritised a move to Anfield.
Wirtz is the next major signing through the Liverpool door following a move for his Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, with Milos Kerkez likely to follow.
But on this occasion, it was all about their £116m man.

Liverpool confirmed that Wirtz had penned a long-term deal with the club after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
Speaking of his move, the playmaker told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel very happy and very proud.
“Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy.
“I’m really excited to have a new adventure in front of me.
“This was also a big point of my thoughts: that I want to have something completely new, to go out of the Bundesliga and to join the Premier League.
“I will see how I can perform there. I hope I can do my best.
“I spoke also with some players who played there and they told me that it’s perfect for me and every pitch is perfect, you can enjoy every game. I’m really looking forward to playing my first game.”

Having won the title last term, the signing of the midfielder is a huge signal of intent as Slot’s side look to defend their crown and steal a march on their rivals.
