Liverpool supporters on social media were left fuming at Luis Diaz for his display in the 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon (10 February).
The Reds leapfrogged Manchester City to return to the top of the Premier League table after a hard-fought win at Anfield.
The Merseyside club welcomed a club record 60,000 fans to their home ground on Saturday after the new Anfield Road stand was cleared for full use.
Diogo Jota scored his 14th goal of the season to open the scoring before Dara O’Shea leveled the scoreline moments before halftime.
Jurgen Klopp’s side bounced back after the break with goals from Diaz and Darwin Nunez securing their 16th victory in the Premier League this season.
With Mohamed Salah sidelined with injury, Diaz started on the left of a makeshift forward line for Liverpool before being replaced by Cody Gakpo late into the clash.
Despite scoring his fifth league goal of the season with a brave header to restore Liverpool’s lead, Reds supporters on social media were not happy with the 27-year-old’s overall display.
Liverpool’s Premier League title race continues next Saturday (17 February) when Klopp’s side travel to Brentford for the early kick-off.
