Liverpool fans question surprise Klopp decision ahead of Bournemouth showdown

By Amir Mir

Joel Matip started on the bench for Liverpool against Bournemouth – and fans on Twitter have questioned Jurgen Klopp’s selection.

The Reds take on Eddie Howe’s side in a crucial Premier League showdown, knowing three points will help them in their quest to finish in the top four at the end of the campaign.

Ahead of the game, Klopp opted to start centre-back Ragnar Klavan alongside Dejan Lovren with Matip on the bench.

Both Matip and Lovren had started the impressive 3-1 win against Merseyside rivals Everton at the weekend.

Three points against Eddie Howe’s side could see the Reds close the gap on the top two with second-placed Tottenham and leaders Chelsea also in action.

Spurs travel to relegation-threatened Swansea while Antonio Conte’s men will host fourth-placed Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

With less than two months of the season remaining the race to finish in the top four is set to go to the wire.

After this encounter, Klopp will prepare his team for a tough encounter against Mark Hughes’ Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
