Liverpool fans rage as latest Jeremy Doku footage analysed – ‘It’s a scandal’, ‘Corrupt’
Liverpool fans on social media claim they have been “robbed” after they were denied a late penalty during their 1-1 draw with Man City on Sunday afternoon (10 March).
The points were shared at Anfield after a fierce title clash between Liverpool and Manchester City ended all square.
It marked the final meeting in the legendary rivalry between Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola with the Reds manager stepping down at the end of the season.
Guardiola’s side were on top for much of the first half and they broke the deadlock through John Stones following a Kevin De Bruyne corner.
However, Liverpool fought back after the break and levelled from the spot through Alexis Mac Allister after Darwin Nunez was fouled by Ederson.
The Reds pushed for a winner with Mohamed Salah joining the fray from the bench and they appealed for a penalty late into injury time after Jeremy Doku caught Mac Allister in the chest.
However, referee Michael Oliver waved away the appeals and VAR did not overturn the decision despite a lengthy check.
Liverpool fans on social media are outraged that their side were not awarded a penalty, with some supporters suggesting that they were “robbed”.
With City and Liverpool both dropping points, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table with 10 games remaining.
Liverpool now turn their attention towards the second leg of their Europa League clash with Sparta Praha before travelling to Old Trafford to face Man United in the FA Cup next Sunday (17 March).
