Liverpool fans rage at ‘horrible’ VAR controversy vs West Ham – ‘Disgrace’

Liverpool fans on social media are outraged that West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta was not sent off during their 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon (27 April).

Jurgen Klopp’s side dropped vital points at the London Stadium as they looked to get their Premier League title charge back on track.

After a slow start to the match, Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring for the hosts following a corner.

However, Liverpool fans believe the Hammers should have been down to 10 men before the goal after Paqueta’s challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.

Paqueta caught the Argentine above the ankle but referee Anthony Taylor decided to keep his cards in his pocket and VAR sided with the Manchester-born referee.

Liverpool returned after the break and overturned the deficit via Andy Robertson and an own goal by Alphonse Areola.

However, Michail Antonio scored his seventh goal of the season to draw West Ham back level in the second half.

Reds supporters on social media branded Paqueta’s challenge as “horrible” while other fans claimed the decision was “massively corrupt”.

Liverpool remain third in the Premier League table after sharing the points at the London Stadium.

Klopp’s side now trail league leaders Arsenal by two points with the Gunners also boasting a game in hand.
