Liverpool fans rage at Rio Ferdinand after what he said about Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool fans have hit out at Rio Ferdinand after he criticised the supporters for their reaction to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s substitution against Arsenal.
Arne Slot’s side were held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield despite taking a two-goal lead in the first half courtesy of finishes from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.
The second half saw Arsenal mount a comeback after Garbiel Martinelli’s header shortly after half-time was followed up by an equaliser from Mikel Merino, who was later sent off.
However, the major talking point came with Alexander-Arnold‘s arrival as he was met with a chorus of boos when coming off the bench after 67 minutes.
After the game, Ferdinand took to X to express his disbelief as he ranted: “I can’t believe Liverpool fans booing one of their own.
“I understand that some of you guys are not happy with his decision etc but to boo Alexander-Arnold after he has won the lot with you is baffling! Didn’t cost you a penny.“

Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid has felt almost inevitable since he entered the final six months of his contracts without committing his future to Liverpool.
While Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk put pen to paper, delays continued surrounding the right-back with radio-silence over his future.
That is despite Liverpool fans being convinced Alexander-Arnold would sign a new deal after his passionate celebrations following a winning goal against Leicester.
As a result, the announcement of his departure left a sour taste in the mouths of the fans who have opted to make themselves heard.

The boos for Alexander-Arnold were clear for all to hear despite scattered applause from the stands for the player who has won it all at Anfield.
However, Ferdinand’s response has received plenty of backlash from Liverpool fans, who have insisted the former Man United man should mind his own business.
Taking to social media in response, supporters have urged Ferdinand to focus on United’s recent struggles and stop telling Reds fans how to feel.
