Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to miss the rest of the season – and Liverpool fans are delighted with the injury blow to their rivals.

Sky Sports claim that the 35-year-old is expected to be out for the remainder of the campaign after injuring his knee.

The Swedish striker was forced off during United’s win over Anderlecht in Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.

Liverpool fans believes that Ibrahimovic’s injury blow will help their cause to finish inside the top-four places, with United currently chasing them down.

The Reds supporters were pleased with the injury setback to prolific goal scorer Ibrahimovic and feels they now have an advantage in the race for the Champions League spots.

Ibrahimovic has been one of the outstanding players in the Premier League this season and made a huge impact at Old Trafford following his summer arrival on a free transfer.

The veteran forward has proved his qualities at the age of 35 and scored 28 goals in just 46 appearances this season.

He has helped Jose Mourinho’s side stay in the race for the top four and the Red Devils are currently fifth in the league table.

United will move just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester City if they win their game in hand, while they would move level on points with Liverpool if they won their two games in hand on them.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in pole position to finish in the top four and will now be hoping Ibrahimovic’s absence can dent United’s form.
