Liverpool fans react on Twitter to latest injury update on Lallana and Firmino
By Emma Sanders
Liverpool fans reacted with excitement on Twitter as Jurgen Klopp revealed he is “pleased” with the progres of Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino ahead of the team’s clash against Bournemouth on Sunday.
The duo are back in training and have not been ruled out of the Premier League fixture despite being forced to sit out the 2-0 victory against Leeds on Tuesday.
Lallana returned to training on Thursday after picking up a groin injury while on international duty during England’s 2-2 draw against Spain last month.
The attacking midfielder has missed the last three games but was in excellent form prior to picking up the injury so will be a welcome return for fans.
Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce quoted Klopp on his personal Twitter account as saying that the club will “see how he reacts” from the intensity of training before confirming whether Lallana will be involved or not in the clash against Bournemouth.
Firmino has also returned to training after missing the EFL Cup quarter-final victory against Leeds due to a knock he picked up against Sunderland.
The Brazilian has already scored five goals and grabbed five assists in the league so far this season and he could return to action against Bournemouth despite experiencing pain in his calf.
Liverpool currently sit just a point off Chelsea at the top of the league table so fans were excited to hear two of the side’s most important players could be returning.
