Liverpool fans react on Twitter after key striker's omission vs Swansea

By Alex Taylor

Liverpool have left Daniel Sturridge out of their starting line-up to face Swansea on Saturday afternoon – and fans have reacted angrily to the news.

The Reds have made one change from the side that put five past Hull last weekend but still have no room for the 27-year-old forward in the first-team line-up.

Centre-back Dejan Lovren replaces Iceland international Ragnar Klavan at the back meaning Sturridge must watch-on from the substitute bench.

Supporters on social media were quick to share their frustration at the news that their former first-choice striker was not starting the clash.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking for their fifth win in a row after winning all of their September fixtures.

Klopp’s side have started their new campaign in style this season, having already beaten Leicester, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Reds currently sit in fifth place in the table after taking 13 points from their first six games and a win for Liverpool could see them move up to second place in the league.

The decision to omit Sturridge from the starting XI will interest West Ham supporters after the striker was linked to the east London outfit this week.

In other Liverpool news, owner John Henry has suggested that fan protests over ticket prices has put further Anfield expansion at risk  – and fans have reacted with anger to the news on Twitter.
