Chelsea are now just three points behind Liverpool with a game in hand after the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Stamford Bridge – and fans were left fuming with the performance of Nathianel Clyne.
Despite the points tally, Liverpool have a far better goal difference than the Blues, meaning it could be a tight finish in the battle for fourth.
However, supporters of the Reds were particularly unhappy with the display of Clyne, who they wanted off the pitch, and got what they wanted as he was substituted on the hour mark, after witnessing his input on the game.
The England right-back, who according to Sillyseason.com earns £70,000-a-week, came back into the side for the fixture in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold who was deployed in the midfield zone instead.
Judging by reactions on Twitter, it was a move which did not pay off for Jurgen Klopp.
A back injury had kept the former Southampton player out of the side for much of the season, and his appearance at Stamford Bridge was just his third in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, the 27-year-old’s lack of game time was not enough to stop Reds fans from having a pop at the defender.
An Olivier Giroud goal in the 35th minute – against the run of play – handed the Blues the advantage and increased their chances of making one of the four Champions League positions.
Reds fans were by and large unhappy with the display of the right-back, and here is what they had to say about his display on social media:

Clyne absolutely shocking my lad could do better at right back. Don’t miss these chances #reds could be costly

Clyne is the definition of an average 442 right back who has help of his winger defensively and going forward just needs to be a body. Trent offers so much more there.
