Liverpool fans react to Virgil van Dijk’s reveal – ‘done deal… 110%’

Virgil van Dijk is out of contract at Liverpool in June and fans have been concerned he could follow Trent Alexander-Arnold out the exit door this summer.

The 33-year-old Reds captain has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain as he enters the final weeks of his deal at Anfield.

Van Dijk remains a key man for Arne Slot’s side, who are closing in on the Premier League title despite losing 3-2 away at Fulham on Sunday (6 April).

He has played every minute in the English top flight this term with Liverpool losing just two league games in the 2024-25 campaign.

Van Dijk looks set to lift his second Premier League title and has previously won the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup at Anfield.

The giant defender has now issued an update on his future with just weeks left to run on his current contract.

Van Dijk confirms ‘progress’ in Liverpool talks

Speaking to Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele after the Fulham clash, Van Dijk confirmed there has been “progress” in talks with the club over a new deal.

However, the defender stopped short of confirming he will stay on Merseyside and stressed that “internal discussions” are still ongoing.

Liverpool fans will also be sweating over the future of legendary forward Mohamed Salah, who is also out of contract in June.

Van Dijk contract ‘never in doubt’ despite his new warning

For the meantime, Liverpool fans are over the moon with progress on Van Dijk’s future – despite him warning a deal is not quite agreed.

One supporter claimed the defender’s future was “never in doubt”, while one suggested the Dutchman could confirm his new contract when Slot‘s side lift the Premier League title.
