Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Aspas winning La Liga monthly accolade

By Harvey Byrne

Iago Aspas was named La Liga’s October Player of the Month, and Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to compare it with the other abnormalities that have happened in 2016.

The 29-year-old Celta Vigo forward won the award after an impressive month which saw him score six goals in six appearances.

The impressive run of form saw the uncapped Spain national called up to the national team and he could also make his debut against England with Chelsea forward Diego Costa suffering an injury.

However, the Merseysiders didn’t see the same form from Aspas after he joined Brendan Rodgers’ side in 2013.

He lasted just two years at Anfield playing in 15 fixtures with a return of one goal before returning to Spain with Sevilla and he has since moved back to Celta Vigo, where he has been a success.

However, Liverpool fans are still surprised on social media, with many comparing it to 2016’s bizarre events which saw Brexit enforced, Leicester win the Premier League and most recently Donald Trump elected President of the United States.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Liverpool have been relentless in front of goal themselves and currently top the scoring charts as well as the Premier League table with 30 goals from their first 11 fixtures.
