Liverpool fans react on Twitter as Firmino arrested

Liverpool attacking sensation Roberto Firmino has been arrested and charged with drink driving – and fans on Twitter are furious.

The Brazilian was stopped by police in the early hours of Saturday morning, and risks missing out on Liverpool’s title clash with Manchester City on 31 December.

According to the Independent, Firmino is expected to appear in court the same day Liverpool face City. But while he could still be eligible to play in the game, Jurgen Klopp may chose to suspend the player for his behaviour.

France defender Mamadou Sakho was dropped and later banished from the first-team setup under Klopp for his attitude and behaviour, and many fans expect Firmino to face similar punishment.

Here are some of their messages on Twitter:

The 25-year-old made an excellent start to the season with six goals and six assists, but has failed to register either a goal or assist since the 6-1 win over Watford on November 6.

However, in the absence of the injured Philippe Coutinho, Firmino has still found regular football at a premium despite his form.

Liverpool go up against Stoke on Wednesday before their new year’s eve clash with Man City, and it remains to be seen how Klopp and the club will react to Firmino’s controversial incident.

In other Liverpool news, goalkeeper Loris Karius has made this team of flops for the season.
