Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Ings hat-trick for Under-23's

By Harvey Byrne

Danny Ings bagged a hat-trick for the Liverpool Under-23s in a clash against Ipswich on Sunday – and fans took to Twitter wondering when he’d get a chance in the first team.

The former Burnley man scored three goals with one coming in the first five minutes before scoring on the 80th and 90th minute.

He has only made one appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in the new campaign with a 64th minute substitute appearance against Championship side Derby in the Capital One Cup.

Liverpool fans took to social media following the forward’s display for the youthful Reds team and many believe he should be around the first team.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Ings suffered a serious injury while playing for Liverpool last October and it restricted him to just nine appearances for the club, where he scored three goals.

Before his transfer to Anfield last summer, he starred in a Burnley side where he played 37 times scoring 11 goals, but was unable to stop them from suffering relegation.

He currently faces strong competition in the Liverpool squad with Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi also vying for the leading role upfront.
