Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Joe Allen display v Stoke

Joe Allen lined up for Stoke against Liverpool for the first time since leaving in the summer – and Reds fans on Twitter were impressed with his display.

The 26-year-old was part of the Liverpool team for four years between 2012 and 2016 after following Brendan Rodgers from Swansea in a £15million deal.

However, after failing to properly establish himself at the Merseyside giants he was allowed to leave Anfield for Stoke in a £13million move by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The midfielder has seemingly had a surge in form since the last campaign and after also impressing at the Euro’s in the summer he has starred for Stoke with five goals and four assists in 18 appearances.

He didn’t trouble the score sheet on Tuesday, as his side fell to a 4-1 defeat, but he was one of the better players for Stoke in the meeting.

A large number of Reds fans commented on the midfielder’s display, stating that they should have kept him on social media.

Liverpool have not missed Allen too much since he left with the club currently occupying second place in the league and six points off league leaders Chelsea.
