Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Klavan display against Swansea

By Matt Farr

Liverpool put in yet another abject defensive display to succumb to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of bottom-of-the-table Swansea in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds are now faced with the possibility of falling 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea, and fans were less than impressed with the display – particularly that of defender Ragnar Klavan.

The 31-year-old retained his place in the first-team despite the return of Joel Matip following his dispute with the Cameroon FA over his Africa Cup of Nations snub, and did not justify his selection at all.

Klavan rarely looked in control at the back, and failed to exert his authority over Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, who netted twice early in the second-half.

He was also considered at fault for Swansea’s third goal, clearing the ball into the path of an unmarked Gylfi Sigurdsson, who slotted past Simon Mignolet to seal the deal.

Following the defeat, Liverpool fans took to social media to voice their concerns.

Here are some of their messages on Twitter:

Klavan was brought in by Jurgen Klopp in the summer from FC Augsburg for a fee of £4.2million, but has been less than impressive.

He has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, and despite some positive moments, still has work to do to win over the Liverpool faithful.
