Virgil van Dijk gave a stunning display for Southampton against Hapeol Beer Sheva on Thursday evning – and Liverpool fans on Twitter are hoping for his signature in January.
The 25-year-old defender started in the team’s back four and played the full 90 minutes, bagging the equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
However, his goal was not enough to see his side through their Europa League group stage and they were knocked out by the team from Israel at St Mary’s alongside Inter Milan.
It has recently been revealed that van Dijk has a £25million release clause in his contract and he has been linked with a number of clubs, including the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are also in desperate need of a centre-back to improve the defence and they recently suffered a humiliating 4-3 loss against Bournemouth.
This has all led to Liverpool fans on social media wanting their side to make a move for the highly-rated Netherlands international.

Van Dijk completed a move to the south coast from Scottish giants Celtic for a fee of £13million in the summer of 2015.
He has not missed a Premier League game since his signing and has played in 59 encounters in total.
