Liverpool fans can’t believe what Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed about Xabi Alonso replacing Jurgen Klopp as their new manager.
While speaking with German outlet ARD, the World Cup champion claimed that the Anfield job is Alonso’s “dream” role and that he expects his former teammate to depart Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
Alonso has been heavily linked to be Klopp’s replacement since his shock announcement that he would be leaving at the end of the season after nine years.
As revealed by Football Insider last month (28 January), the Reds are planning to approach their former player and have made him their “number one choice“.
Alonso endeared himself to Liverpool fans during his Champions League-winning spell at Anfield, but he has gone on to become an exceptional young coach having guided an unbeaten Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga this season.
Fans have taken to social media in response to Schweinsteiger’s massive revelation, and plenty of fans are confident that Alonso will now be their new manager.
