Liverpool fans shocked by ‘horrific’ Mohamed Salah transfer update

A number of Liverpool fans have criticised Jurgen Klopp’s talent identification, after The Times reported he considered Man United’s Antony as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian signed his last contract at Anfield in the summer of 2022, when there had been a year remaining on his current deal.

However, there were apparently some concerns about whether the winger would extend his contract on Merseyside.

As a result, Klopp is said to have discussed signing Antony, as a replacement to Salah, had he left Liverpool.

In the end though, the winger would remain at Anfield, and is now into the final year of his current deal with the club.

Antony meanwhile, joined Man United in the 2022 summer transfer window, for £81.3million (BBC Sport).

Klopp of course, left his role on Merseyside at the end of last season. The German has since agreed to start a role as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull from the start of 2025.

Liverpool fans slam Jurgen Klopp over Man United’s Antony

While Salah has continued to thrive as a key man for his team, Antony has struggled since making the move to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has flattered to deceive with his performances, and there are already suggestions he could be moved on in January.

Reacting to the news of Klopp’s past interest in the Man United man, some Liverpool fans felt things may have been different at another club, with another manager.

Others though, suggested this revelation was proof that the 57-year-old’s talent identification is “horrific”.

In other news, Mohamed Salah has dropped a hint over the fitness of a Liverpool teammate.
