Liverpool fans thrilled as news emerges on date for rescheduled Everton clash

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to express their relief at the likely date for the rescheduled Merseyside Derby after Saturday’s clash against Everton (December 7) was postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Arne Slot was poised to face Sean Dyche in his first Merseyside derby as Liverpool manager, marking the final clash at Goodison Park before Everton’s move to their new stadium.

The match has since been postponed following a meeting between both clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council.

According to the Telegraph, the match will likely be re-scheduled well into 2025, meaning Liverpool could benefit from multiple players returning from injury.

Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister, Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa, and Konstantinos Tsimikas could all be available again once the derby is played.

Dyche will undoubtedly be frustrated to miss out on the opportunity to play their arch-rivals with so many players out, with Everton sitting in 15th, five points above the relegation zone with 14.

Slot’s side will remain top of the Premier League table despite not playing this weekend, sitting seven points ahead of second-place Chelsea with 35 points from a possible 42.

Some fans have been able to look on the bright side of the postponement, taking to X, formally known as Twitter, to celebrate.
